What is OCM?

Orthodox Church Music is a semi-annual journal published by PSALM. It serves as a forum for scholarly and professional conversations about church music primarily within anglophone Orthodox Christian communities. OCM is pan-Orthodox in its orientation, exploring both Slavic and Byzantine choral and chant traditions. OCM exists in a digital format on this website, available to all members of PSALM, and also as a limited-run print journal by subscription.

What is PSALM?

PSALM (the Pan-Orthodox Society for the Advancement of Liturgical Music) was founded in 1995 to provide a network for church musicians to grow spiritually, liturgically, and musically in their ministry. Its members have included hierarchs, priests, scholars, choir directors, and singers from many jurisdictions and represented a wide array of liturgical and musical traditions. In previous years, PSALM has hosted national and regional conferences, published and distributed sheet music, and published a periodic newsletter titled PSALM Notes. In its current form, PSALM seeks to continue its stated mission and to provide organizational structure for the publication of Orthodox Church Music.
